Call for Abstracts for Oral and Poster Presentations

Abstract Submissions Closed

Abstract submissions have now closed for the 2022 conference.  The Australasian Plant Breeding Conference 2022 will be held at the QT Gold Coast 9-11 May 2022.  Thank you to everyone who submitted an abstract.  The committee is pleased with the overwhelming response from locals and internationals.  We will be in contact mid October with the outcome.

Abstract Guidelines

Abstracts submitted must be original and not presented or published elsewhere. They should be no more than 300 words in length.

Abstracts will be considered for both oral and poster presentations. This decision will be made at the discretion of the program committee based upon relevance and contribution to plant breeding.

All abstracts will be reviewed by the program committee and you will be notified of your submission outcome via email no later than 22nd October 2021. Instructions will be provided on the notification email.

Under the theme APBC 2022 “Towards 2050”, four broad sub-themes for abstract submission are suggested (although contribution addressing topics related to plant breeding not covered here are also very welcome):

 Predictive breeding

- Linking genotype to phenotype
- Genomic selection
- Remote sensing
- Crop modelling
- Big data
- Biometry

Products for markets

- Applied breeding success stories
- End-product quality
- Pathology
- Commercialisation of varieties and IP
- Biotechnology including gene editing

Dealing with the impacts of variability and climate change

- Flexibility and agility of breeding
- Genetic resources including indigenous ownership of native plants, germplasm diversity and conservation
- Breeding for a moving target
- Biotic and abiotic stresses
- Plasticity
- Impacts of climate variability on commercial breeding programs

Preparing for the future

- Educating the next generation of plant breeders
- Genetic resources
